Eating smart and being sexy
Today's food!
23rd-Jan-2008 11:53 am
Death smiling
What I have eaten and will eat today:

Breakfast:
Cider
Bowl of cinnamon Life and fat-free milk

Snackage:
Half of a tiny little loaf of pumpkin bread
More cider

Lunch:
3/4 of a sub left over from the weekend - grilled chicken, black Forest ham, mozarella and sweet peppers on a roll
Water, tea or hot cocoa, most likely

Further snackage?:
I have emergency granola bars and applesauce containers in reserve

Dinner:
Probably bar food. Oops.

Anyone else want to share what they have, are or will be eating?

My goal this week: one homecooked, healthy dinner by Saturday. Probably something stupidly easy like black beans and rice - I know, I'm setting the bar super-low, but the upheaval in my life and schedule has meant that virtually all my meals are eaten out or require no prep, and I need to take baby steps to change.

My turn!

Brekky: half a bowl of golden grahams with milk

snacky: raw almonds mixed with dried fruit, two handfuls' worth

lunch (pending): the last two slices of supreme pizza

dinner: most likely leftovers

Not the healthiest day, but it's better than some days. Am at this moment resisting the impluse to cruise by a certain co-worker's cubicle - he has a dish of Mini Reese's PB Cups out.

My goal this week is to drink more non-soda drinks than I do soda, which woudl be a marked improvement over last week.

Breakfast: doughnuts.
Snack: Sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit.
Lunch: who knows
Further snackage: who knows
Dinner: who knows, probably ramen or mac and cheese

I suppose I should be eating at least marginally healthier...

I'm trying this simple idea: every time I go to the store, I get one fruit, and one vegetable. And then I eat them. It's worked well in the week I've been trying it.

The store I most often visit is 7-11 though. My main problem is I can't make myself cook so I either go out to eat or eat something with little to no prep. Not so good for my health or my wallet.
23rd-Jan-2008 05:48 pm (UTC)
Dude, find another store. Let's go that basic.
23rd-Jan-2008 05:51 pm (UTC)
Heh. Well, I usually end up stopping there on the way to work for a Red Bull and said doughnuts. There are other options near my place, I just don't go to them for groceries often enough.

I've noticed that with me, it all comes down to planning. If I say, "Thusday night, I will go to the grocery store, and I will buy these things, and only these things", then I do pretty well. I don't always stick to my list, but it's definitely less of a free-for all.
23rd-Jan-2008 05:58 pm (UTC)
Yeah. I can do that, it's just a matter of doing that on a regular basis. I also need to learn what to get. Buy things that I can use to make quick-ish, easy meals that aren't so bad for me.

Chicken breasts
angelhair pasta (cooks in like, five minutes!)
Ground beef
any vegetable that you might like raw
uncle ben's rice (again quick cook)

Know what.... Imma make a seperate post asking for suggestions. Let's see what the hive mind has to say.

Breakfast - Bowl of Trader Joe's High Fiber Cheerio Type Things w/ 2% milk.

Snack - small piece of biscotti in office/ 12 oz. americano with half and half (just a splash and it's tasty).

Lunch - salad with cucumber and kalamata olives (and goddess dressing) and leftover pasta with olive oil, salt, pepper, and parm

Dinner - No idea, since we need to go food shopping hard core. Possibly a frozen turkey pot pie.

I predict an additional 2 pots of herbal tea.

Apple cider! Non-alcoholic! Is all cider alcoholic over there? Wow, I must seem crazy hardcore...
24th-Jan-2008 10:04 pm (UTC)
yep, cider is totally an alcohol drink to the angles.

i think it's because i've spent my life thinking of cider drinkers as ruddy-faced men in tweed hats. from somerset. possibly with a pig on a string.

though these days it's more like a youth with a beckham haircut and a pitbull. XD

Awwww. Here, you would have to specify "hard cider" to give off that impression. Just plain "cider" evokes rosy-cheeked little tykes munching on doughnuts and kicking through piles of leaves.
25th-Jan-2008 06:39 pm (UTC)
aw, you rosy-cheeked tyke. lol that we only drink the hard stuff. :D
23rd-Jan-2008 11:33 pm (UTC)
So, I'm like, way late, but here's mine:

breakfast: bowl of plain cheerios with vanilla soymilk and a smoothie (10 frozen strawberries, enough orange juice to cover them in my mixer cup, a half scoop of protein/vitamin powder stuff, and a banana, blasted to smithereens by my favorite appliance, the stick blender).

lunch: smoked cheddar (holy crap, yum!) on wheat thins, an apple, and carrots. and one dove dark chocolate, because damn do I love chocolate.

snack: blue corn chips (sadly, rather stale) with some deliciously spicy-hot guacamole.

dinner: a smallish black bean burrito with more of that guacamole on top, and probably chocolate soymilk to cool off (because both the beans we made this weekend and the guac are rather spicy!).

I tend to front-load my day as far as food is concerned...works better for me that way.
